GEAR LAB / OXYGEN & AIR / HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
A medical treatment—not a home wellness chamber.
Medical HBOT delivers high-concentration oxygen in a pressurized chamber, generally under physician supervision. It is standard care for a defined list of conditions such as decompression sickness, selected non-healing wounds and radiation injury. Evidence for general energy, anti-aging, autism, athletic recovery or uncomplicated concussion is not established.

01 / BENEFITS, GRADED
What the evidence actually supports.
Recognized medical indications
HBOT can be an important adjunct for selected conditions evaluated by hyperbaric specialists. Benefit depends on diagnosis, pressure, oxygen dose and treatment course.
Wound and radiation care
Selected diabetic wounds, delayed radiation injury and compromised graft/flap situations are among the established clinical contexts—not all chronic wounds.
Wellness and longevity
Protocols marketed for healthy aging often extrapolate biomarkers or uncontrolled studies. They do not establish broad disease prevention or life extension.
Mild home chambers
Low-pressure chambers are not equivalent to medical HBOT. Chamber clearance does not mean every promoted treatment claim is FDA authorized.
What has not been established.
- General anti-aging
- Routine sports recovery
- Treatment of autism
- Treatment of uncomplicated chronic fatigue
- That a low-pressure home chamber reproduces hospital protocols
02 / PRACTICAL PROTOCOL
Start low. Change one variable. Keep the signal.
Start with the treating clinician and a board-qualified hyperbaric physician—not a package sales consultation.
Prefer a UHMS-accredited program with trained staff, medical screening and fire-safety procedures.
Pressure, session length and number of treatments vary. There is no responsible generic wellness dose.
Wound dimensions, tissue response, symptoms or the indication-specific measure should determine continuation.
Track only what can change the decision.
- Exact medical indication
- Chamber pressure and oxygen delivery
- Ear/sinus and vision symptoms
- Objective clinical endpoint
- Facility accreditation and emergency readiness
03 / BUYING GUIDE
The specifications that matter.
- Do not buy a chamber for unsupervised wellness use
- Facility has UHMS accreditation or equivalent documented standards
- Physician-led eligibility and contraindication screening
- Continuous trained supervision
- Fire prevention, grounding, maintenance and emergency procedures
- Transparent pressure and oxygen protocol
- A recognized indication referred by a treating clinician
- Complex wound, radiation or diving-medicine programs with specialist oversight
- The sales pitch centers on anti-aging packages
- No physician evaluates pulmonary, ear/sinus, medication and seizure risks
- The facility cannot explain fire-safety or chamber pressure
04 / MODERN BIO SELECT
The responsible path.
We rank for fit, evidence, usable specifications, ownership cost and safety. No company can buy a position. Prices are snapshots and may change; always confirm current terms on the seller or facility site.
UHMS-accredited medical facility
$200–$600+ per sessionThe right product is a qualified care pathway, not a chamber shipped to your house.
- BEST FOR
- Clinician-confirmed medical indications
- WHY IT MADE THE LIST
- Medical screening
- Trained continuous supervision
- Audited safety and quality processes
- WATCH FOR
- Accreditation does not make an unsupported wellness indication proven; ask what endpoint will be measured.
Commerce note: outbound product links may later become affiliate links. That can support this publication, but it will never change the verdict, evidence grade or order.
05 / SAFETY & STOP RULES
Know when the experiment ends.
- 01
Oxygen-rich environments have a heightened fire risk; the FDA reinforced safe-use requirements in 2025.
- 02
Untreated pneumothorax is an absolute contraindication. Ear/sinus barotrauma, temporary vision change, oxygen toxicity and glucose shifts can occur.
- 03
FDA device clearance and UHMS-recognized indications are different concepts; neither validates every clinic claim.
Age, pregnancy, diagnoses, medications, implanted devices and the exact product can change risk. Product marketing is not a substitute for instructions from a qualified clinician who knows your history.
06 / SOURCE PACK
Open the record yourself.
A source supports only the conclusion described in this guide—not every claim attached to the technology. Manufacturer pages are used for specifications, price and warranty, never as sole proof of a health outcome.
